My understanding is that signs of comparison almost always have spaces on either side. In the following example from GTM-7.9, it shows this isn’t the case. Is this due to not being on baseline?
Disregard this. I knew I’ve read it somewhere but could not find it. I finally found it in “GTM3_Operation&Comparison 3.1.3”

GTM 3.1.3 says:
Signs of comparison are unspaced when they appear in an expression
which is not on the base line.We also talked about this in the webinar “Spacing Exceptions,” which is in the NBA archive of short webinars.
