I’m formatting a statistics textbook and have arrived at a density curve. Print first shows a dotplot and then shows a density curve over the same dotplot as a separate graphic. Numbers below the dotplot line do not require the numeric indicator. Since the density curve is being shown on the same dotplot line, do I also omit the numeric indicators from the numbers below the density curve line?
The baseline of each graph is treated like a number line. Following the table “Use and Omission of Numeric Indicator” on page 6-3 of GSTG 2022, we see that no numeric symbols are to be used on number lines so your assessment is correct.
The only part we see that will require the numeric indicator is the label for part (b) Height = 1/3.
