Hello Kathleen:

The excerpt below is not figured bass, so how should I handle it? It appears to be a string name, a Roman numeral position number and a finger number, but there is no guidance that I have been able to find on how to transcribe such a sequence.

That’s a new one for me. I’m not sure what the print is asking for, so I would follow print exactly as it appears. I’d most likely omit the empty staff and just make it a list.
