How about the letter sign when transcribing Uncontracted in Nemeth Code for letters (meaning letters) standing alone, or before enclosures in itemized material for example.. Am I right to keep it and use punctuation indicator,– following general Nemeth Rules,– regardless if grade 1 or two? Knowing that there is no possible confusion with contractions, I’m not comfortable to completely omit… (if it is not a special request)… Could you provide me some clarifications and/or advices about this? What’s the better decision as a transcriber?

The BANA Math Technical committee made the decision that the rules for using the letter indicator remain the same whether transcribing in contracted or uncontracted braille. So you are right to keep the ELI following general Nemeth rules.
